Catherine Vinson Rueseler Lowes, 68, of Jackson passed away, Monday, June 13, 2022.
She was born Aug. 23, 1953, in Cape Girardeau to the late Vinson Luckman and Catherine "Kitty" McGowan Rueseler.
Catherine graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1971. She raised her family and graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree in social work in 1998.
Catherine was a case worker for Bootheel Counseling Services in the early 2000s.
Cathy loved life, laughter and Motown music. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a well loved, trustworthy friend. She respected everyone and was generous to her friends and family in many ways. She told great stories and was always ready to lend an ear to listen to others. She was fair and kind to all who knew her. She provided several dogs long, comfortable lives as a pet owner.
Cathy liked to be part of her grandchildren's activities, especially Girl Scout projects in which she was a long-time member and adult volunteer.
Survivors include two daughters, Amanda (Miles) Walker of Cape Girardeau and her children, Faun (Tabatha) Rose, Chloe Catherine and Vinson Paul Walker; and Olivia Wells of Shelbyville, Indiana, and her children, August, Michael and Anelise of Illinois, Chancelor and Bones of Indiana; son, Drew Lowes of Shawneetown; former husband, David Lowes, who remained a good friend to the end; sister, Vicki (Jim) Overstreet of Madison, Mississippi; brothers, John Rueseler of Houston and Rob (Janet) Rueseler of Cape Girardeau. Also surviving are paternal relatives -- an aunt, Ruth Rueseler Knote; cousins, Nancy (Bob) Evenden of Dallas, Elizabeth and Richard (Mary) Knote of Cape Girardeau, Patti Knote of Indianapolis, Judy Rueseler of Cape Girardeau, Rebecca Rueseler of Oregon; maternal aunts and uncles, Elease McGowan Morgan and Martha McGowan Tudor, both of Augusta, Joseph Lamar McGowan Jr. of Evans, Georgia, Leon McGowan of Atlanta, Carl McGowan of Sylvania, Georgia, and William H. McGown Sr. of Martinez, Georgia.
Catherine was preceded in death by parents and paternal cousins, Ronald Rueseler and Barbara Knote Head.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. June 25 at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
A celebration of life memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. June 25 at the funeral home, with Bob Towner officiating.
