EAST PRAIRIE -- Catherine Louise Mansfield, 80, of Herrin, Ill., formerly of East Prairie, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Shawnee Christian Center in Herrin.
She was born March 2, 1920, in California, daughter of Charles F. and Lillian Russell Cope Gerlach.
She lived most of her life in East Prairie before moving to Herrin three years ago.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in East Prairie and was active in the East Prairie 60+ Center. She was a senior citizen clown for many years.
She and Able Antone Mansfield were married, who died on Aug. 13, 1974.
Survivors include three sons, Clyde Mansfield of Hartsville, Tenn., Elmer Mansfield of Benton and Larry Mansfield of Marble Hill; five daughters, Louise Marks and Brenda Rushing of East Prairie, Myrtle Roleson of Vista, Calif., Georgia White of Herrin, and Pamela Arnold of Utica, Mich.; three brothers, Richard Gerlach of Arlington, Va., and Kenneth and George Gerlach of Kenwick, Wash.; a sister, Virginia Bottomely of Tampa, Fla.; 27 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Able Antone Mansfield, on Aug. 13, 1974; three brothers; two sisters; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today in the Shelby Funeral Home at East Prairie.
Funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the funeral chapel, with Burl Britt officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
