Catherine E. Statler, 81, 3129 Themis, died Friday, May 31, 1991, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 19, 1909, at Jackson, daughter of Joseph and Mary Ann Hunter Schmuke. She married W. Hinkle Statler Dec. 10, 1928, at Jackson. He died April 23, 1962.
Statler had lived away from Cape Girardeau 15 years, moving back in 1954 from Jefferson City. She had taught school at Jackson, worked at Cape Girardeau County License Bureau, Leming Lumber and Howard's Athletic Goods. She was a member of St. Vincent's Church, and was active in the Cape Girardeau County Democratic Party.
Survivors include four daughters, Nancy Stone of Lake St. Louis, Cathy Bishop of Cape Girardeau, Martha Thompson of Bridgeton, Jeanne Statler of Hartford, Conn.; five sisters, Agnes O'Loughlin, Laura Lewis and Mary Schmuke of Jackson, Betty Seabaugh of Cape Girardeau, JoAnn Hill of Atlanta, Ga., and six grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent's Church. the Rev. Chris Robinson will officiate, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 5-7 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.
