DELTA - Former Delta resident Carrie Vernetta Masters, of the Chaffee Nursing Center, died Friday, Jan. 25, 1991 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was 81.

She was born Dec. 6, 1909 at Allenville, the daughter of Silas B. and Mary Alice Tackett Smith. On June 1, 1935 she married Homer F. Masters at Delta.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Delta, where she was actively involved many years.

She is survived her husband, of Chaffee; a daughter, Mary Lou Stapleton of Austin, Texas; a sister, Irene Voellinger of Allenville; and two granddaughters, Trichele Greene of Sherman, Texas, and Chantaye Stapleton, also of Austin, Texas.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Delta. The Rev. Kenny Martin will officiate.

Visitation will be held today at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
