Carrie Peterman

Carrie Elizabeth Peterman, 31, of Henderson, Nev., formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas.

She was born Nov. 9, 1973, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Neal Frederic and Hope Davis Peterman.

Carrie earned a bachelor of science degree in cellular and molecular genetics and a bachelor of science degree in advertising mass communications from Southeast Missouri State University, and a juris doctorate from Pepperdine University Law School.

She was a member of the Nevada Bar, was admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada, and was registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

While attending law school, Carrie served on both the Law Review and Honor Board, worked as a student senator, and was active in speech, debate, theater and music.

She also clerked for the Missouri prosecuting attorney's office, served as campaign coordinator for the Missouri House Republican Committee, executed molecular genetics and biochemistry research, and performed freelance Web site design.

Survivors include her parents; a brother, Neal Lars Peterman; and a sister, Amanda Hope Peterman, all of Cape Girardeau.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jack Cathcart officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society for breast cancer research.
