LEADWOOD -- Carrel William Swan, 78, of Leadwood died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Crystal City.
He was born Sept. 3, 1921, at Grassy, son of Charles and Ida Hillis Swan. He and Wathena Rea were married Aug. 30, 1944.
Swan was a machine operator at Olin Corp. in East Alton, Ill. He was a member of Lively Stone Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church of Leadwood, and Bluff City Machinist Lodge in East Alton.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Roger Swan of Leadwood, Robert Swan of Frankclay; two daughters, June Howard of Beech Bluff, Tenn., Linda Davis of West Alton, Mo.; four brothers, Abel and Norman Swan of Marble Hill, Herman Swan of Poplar Bluff, Vernon Swan of St. Louis; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers, and a grandchild.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill from 3-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Revs. Curtis Howard, David Jackson and Larry Sprous will officiate. Burial will be in Grassy Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 5900.
