Carolyn Shirrell

ZALMA, Mo. -- Carolyn Y. Shirrell, 76, of Zalma passed away July 11, 2015, at her home. She was born Jan. 10, 1939, at Lowndes, Missouri, the daughter of Sylvester William and Eunice Mullins Thurston.

Carolyn was a child-care provider. She believed in the Baptist faith.

Carolyn and William T. Shirrell were united in marriage Jan. 28, 1955, at Hernando, Mississippi, and he preceded her in death Sept. 12, 2002.

Survivors include: a son, William "Billy" Shirrell of Zalma; a daughter, Lorita (Tom) Shirrell Goolsby; two sisters, Hearthel Miler of Poplar Bluff and Joyce Miler of Cour'de Alene, Idaho; two grandchildren, Alisha Nicole (Mike) Razer and Thomas Daniel (Natasha) Goolsby; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Devin Razer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Johnny Thurston; and two sisters, Fern Haddock and Bettie Miler.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance, Missouri.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Earl Elfrink officiating. Burial will follow at Berrong Cemetery near Zalma.
