ORAN, Mo. -- Carolyn Maxine Lyles, 71, of North Richland Hills, Texas, formerly of Oran, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at Texas Health Harris HEB in Bedford. She was born Jan. 3, 1938, at Oran, daughter of Buford Harris "Windy" and Johnnie Merl Ponder Carter. She and Cecal Ray Lyles were married April 1, 1956. He died Aug. 1, 1998...

ORAN, Mo. -- Carolyn Maxine Lyles, 71, of North Richland Hills, Texas, formerly of Oran, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at Texas Health Harris HEB in Bedford.

She was born Jan. 3, 1938, at Oran, daughter of Buford Harris "Windy" and Johnnie Merl Ponder Carter. She and Cecal Ray Lyles were married April 1, 1956. He died Aug. 1, 1998.

Carolyn was a sales representative with Polaroid Inc. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Oran and Grapevine Wheel and Dealers Square Dance Group.

Survivors include her mother, Merl Carter of Oran; two sons, Eric and Brandon Lyles of Fort Worth, Texas; a granddaughter, Catrina Weaver of Fort Worth; and a brother, James M. Carter of Temecula, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her father; a sister, Jean Neal; and two brothers, Alvin Carter and A.E. Damron.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Ed Carter officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
