Carolyn Hughes

Carolyn Ann Hughes, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, March 4, 2022, at Heartland Care and Rehab.

She was born June 24, 1941, in Cairo, Illinois, to Norman D. and Rose Lucille Walder Hughes.

She was a registered nurse at Southeast Hospital for 17 years.

Carolyn was a member of Cape Bible Chapel and enjoyed working with youth in various church-sponsored activities.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Stagner and David (Charlotte) Stagner, both of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Laura (Jay) Stagner of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; two brothers, Norman (Sharon) Hughes of Scott City and Michael Hughes of Cairo; two sisters, Adrienne Calvert of Paducah, Kentucky, and Nancy Joiner of Marble Hill, Missouri; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cape Bible Chapel in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Ben Beswick officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to Cape Bible Chapel Youth Programs.
