SPRINGBORO, Ohio -- Carolyn Buckhanon Hawkins went to her Heavenly Home to be with God and her husband Bill, the love of her life, Thursday, April 28, 2022. Her daughters, Karin and Kristin, and her granddaughter, Megan, were at her bedside.

Carolyn Louise was born in Cape Girardeau and was the first of the four Buckhannon girls. She graduated from Chaffee (Missouri) High School in 1958. She was crowned Mogul Queen and was a gifted pianist, often accompanying school choral groups as well as serving as church organist at the First Baptist Church of Chaffee. She attended Ouachita Baptist University and, later, Southeast Missouri State University. While attending Southeast, she worked as secretary for Joe Perry Rice Insurance Agency in Chaffee.

In 1961, she walked down the aisle in the beautiful wedding gown she had made to marry her high school sweetheart, Bill Hawkins. They lived in Indianapolis, Indiana, and later retired in Dothan, Alabama, where they made many friends and enjoyed their beautiful home on a golf course. They played many rounds of golf and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Dothan.

In 2015, they relocated to Springboro to be near their daughters. Carolyn was an active member of Springboro Baptist Church and volunteered at the Sycamore Hospital Gift Shop. Carolyn was always a caring, loving person, loyal to her family, friends and her faith in God. She and Bill never missed the Chaffee Alumni Banquet throughout the years and as recently as September 2021, Carolyn attended with her sisters, Ruth Ann and Darla.
