Carole Adell McElmurry, 77, of Scott City entered into Heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, July 17, 2016.

Carole was born Aug. 13, 1938, in Fornfelt to Elmer "Hap" and Goldie Ilene Brooks Wadlington.

She was married Nov. 3, 1957, to Donald R. McElmurry, who survives of the home.

Through their union and marriage of 57 years, Don and Carole have two children, Julie (Steve) Millington of Sikeston, Missouri, and Karen Slinkard of Scott City. They were blessed with two grandchildren, Craig (Melissa) Millington of Springfield, Missouri, and Jennifer (Ryan) Elder of Leawood, Kansas. They also recently were blessed March 11, 2016, with their first great-granddaughter, Rylie Millington. Carole is survived by a sister, JoAnn Strong of Scott City.

She was preceded in death by her parents and several beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

Carole was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was a lifelong Baptist and member of Scott City Baptist Church.

Carole enjoyed cooking, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

To Carole, food was love, and she fed and loved many over the years.

Many thanks to the doctors and nurses at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for the excellent care, compassion and support they extended to Carole during her final days.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jeremy Sells officiating.

Burial will be in Lightner Memorial Cemetery in Scott City.
