JACKSON -- Funeral service for Carol LaRue of Jackson will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville. The Rev. Conway Briscoe will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today, and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

LaRue, 48, died Wednesday, March 6, 1996, at her home.

She was born June 23, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Anton and Alene Neumeyer Birk. She and Robert E. LaRue Jr. were married Dec. 28, 1969.

LaRue was a 1965 graduate of Jackson High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and master's degree in remedial reading from Southeast Missouri State University.

She taught at schools in Wisconsin, the Dominican Republic, Jordan, and for the past 10 years has taught at Jackson R-2 Schools.

LaRue was a lifelong member of Zion Church, sang in the choir and was a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of Guardian Council of Job's Daughters Bethel 60 in Jackson, Missouri State Teachers Association, Community Teachers Association, International Reading Association and ADK.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Robert LaRue III of the home; a daughter, Carolyn LaRue of the home; her father of Jackson; three sisters, Sharon Wendel of Whitewater, Cheryl Crouch of Jackson, Martha Nothdurft of Delta; a stepbrother, John Hoffman of Marble Hill, and a stepsister, Sondra Smith of Springfield.

She was preceded in death by her mother, brother and stepmother.
