Carna L. Watkins, 100, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022, at Ratliff Care Center. Her parents were King and Ella Gaines of Zalma, Missouri. Carna and Verle Watkins were married Nov. 19, 1943, in Sioux City, Iowa. Carna and Verle owned and operated Cape Furniture Manufacturing for 28 years. She and Verle also did upholstery work for Saint Francis Medical Center as recently as Dec. 8. 2009. She had been a member of General Baptist Church and later joined Cape First Church...

Carna L. Watkins, 100, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022, at Ratliff Care Center.

Her parents were King and Ella Gaines of Zalma, Missouri. Carna and Verle Watkins were married Nov. 19, 1943, in Sioux City, Iowa.

Carna and Verle owned and operated Cape Furniture Manufacturing for 28 years. She and Verle also did upholstery work for Saint Francis Medical Center as recently as Dec. 8. 2009. She had been a member of General Baptist Church and later joined Cape First Church.

Survivors include two sons, John (Carolyn) Watkins of Sedgewickville, Missouri, and Rick (Jennifer) Watkins of Crossville, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Sherry Watkins of South Haven, Mississippi; five grandchildren, Rochelle Watkins, Renee (Steve) Grim of Sedgewickville, Lori (Brian) Wolf, Angie (Chris) Couch and Cody Watkins of Nashville, Tennessee; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor Carol Heitman-Lucy officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Union Hill Cemetery in Zalma.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
