Carmon Alfred Collier, 84, of Scott City died Monday, May 18, 2020, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 9, 1936, in Ancell to Floyd Alfred and Goldia Brant Collier. He married Jean Lafern Strauser on April 5, 1953. She preceded him in death Dec. 22, 2018
He was a gas serviceman for Missouri Utilities Co. and was a member of Restoration Community Church in Scott City. He loved to camp and to go trout fishing at Montauk and spend time with his family.
He is survived by a son, Carmon "Spank" Collier Jr. of Scott City; daughters, Karen (Steve) Gentry, Sharon (Jan) van der Wel and Debbie (Rob) Reddick of Scott City; grandchildren, Katina Stoops, Justin, Adam, Cody, Bayleigh and Jordan Gentry, Donnie (Lyndsey) Wiley, Nance (Mike) van der Wel, Wesley (Desiree) van der Wel, Allen (Becky) Collier, Matt (Katie) Collier, Denae (Brandon) Phillips and Mallory (Shawn) Lee; 23 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Houston (Mary) Collier of Iuka, Kansas, and Leanis Collier of Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Danny Collier and Ronald Amos; and sisters, Alrhea Henderson and Waletta Collier.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bob Lenz and Mark Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Heart Association, Scott City Food Pantry and Restoration Community Church in Scott City.
The family would like to thank Southeast Hospital, Dr. Retter, Dr. Soto, Dr. Beck and all of the nursing staff in the emergency room, intensive care unit and cardiac progressive care.
