Carlston "Gene" Friese, 77, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born Nov. 22, 1924, at Sedge-wickville, Mo., son of Burnie and Lillie Crites Friese. He and Ella M. Bucher were married Oct. 1, 1949, at Fornfelt, Mo.
Mr. Friese was a graduate of Central High School. In 1988 he retired after 42 years of service with Missouri Highway Department. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Friese; two daughters, Deborah Friese of Cape Girardeau, Tina Magill of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; a sister, Doris Hartle of St. Charles, Mo.; two brothers, Carl and Norval Friese of Cape Girardeau; two grandsons, Justin Magill and Josh Magill.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13. Parish prayers will be at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at St. Vincent de Paul Church. The Rev. Charles Prost will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, with military service conducted by VFW Post 3838.
