ANNA, Ill. -- Carl William Johnson, 76, of rural Anna died Monday, April 21, 1997, at the Veterans Affairs Nursing Center in Marion, Ill.
He was born May 7, 1920 at Mounds, son of Elzie William Johnson and Cora Elizabeth Little Johnson.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille T. Poole Johnson, on Feb. 13, 1993, and also preceded in death by two sisters, one half-sister and one half-brother.
He is survived by five daughters, Sue Bigham of Anna, Joyce Dremonas of Indianapolis, Ind., Barbara Eavey and Deborah Wells, both of Lebanon, Ind., Patricia Rader of Advance, Ind.; four sons, Gary Dean Johnson of Yuma, Ariz., William W. Johnson of Advance, Ind., Robert Eugene Johnson of Lebanon, Ind., Terry Lee Johnson of Shelbyville, Ind.; two sisters, Hallie Hinkle of Dongola, Pearl Johnson of Pekin; three brothers, Starling Johnson of Newman, Charles E. Johnson of Niantic, John Johnson of Mounds; 27 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery near Dongola with full military honors given by members of Carroll Foster VFW Post 3455 of Anna.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
