Carl Wallman

Carl Ray Wallman, 64, of Jackson died Monday, April 4, 2005, at his home.

He was born July 24, 1940, on the old Southard Farm near Pocahontas, son of Carl and Ora Emma Bollinger Wallman. He was one of five children. He was confirmed into the Lutheran Church. He and Evelyn Crader were married Oct. 11, 1963. They lived in Pocahontas before moving to Jackson. They had three children.

Carl worked 45 years at Pocahontas Lumber in Jackson. He was their fleet foreman and mechanic. He retired March 16, 2005, because of poor health. Pocahontas Lumber gave him a retirement party March 17, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He had a great time seeing friends he had not seen for quite some time.

Carl was known for many years in Jackson as the person to take your lawn mower or small engine to when it needed work. He loved to work on them in his spare time.

He loved to fish and spend time with family and friends. He loved to go to the American Legion Hall in Jackson for years. He would go there and spend a lot of time with his friends. He had a lot of good friends.

Carl is survived by his ex-wife, Evelyn; children, Debbie (Tim) Heise of Millersville, Lisa Mirly of Scott City, and Danny Wallman of Jackson; a brother, Paul Wallman of Pocahontas; two sisters, Melva (Gary) Baker and Mary (Elmer) Pinkerton, all of Pocahontas; four grandchildren, Casey Reeves, Andrea Cook, Krista Heise and Nick Heise.

He is also survived by nieces and nephews; special in-laws, Charles and Judy Crader of Jackson and Joe and Glenda Neal of New Palestine, Ind.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin "Pete" Wallman, and his parents.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
