JONESBORO, Ill. - Carl W. Land Sr., 81, of Jonesboro, died Friday, Sept. 27, 1991 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Land was born July 26, 1910 in Carbondale, the son of William Rueben and Minnie Harner Land. He married Gladys Wilson in Jackson, Mo. in 1938. She survives.
Land retired from General Steel in Granite City.
Also surviving are daughters Minnie Skaggs of New Burnside, Lucille Bryant of Jonesboro, and Brenda Hatley of Umatilla, Fla.; sons Virgil Land of Ullin, the Rev. Carl Land Jr. of Jonesboro, and Jerry Land of Anna; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren.
Other survivors include sisters Golda Jackson and Cecil Davis, both of Jonesboro, and Curtis Brown of Anna, and Fannie Rhodes of Wolf Lake.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Norris & Sons Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Burial will be in the Alto Pass Cemetery.
Visitation runs today from 5 to 9 p.m.
