ORAN -- Carl Louis "Butch" Schlitt, 66, of Oran died Thursday on his farm.
He was born Jan. 16, 1930, in Oran, son of the late Otto Louis and Mary Josephine Dohogne Schlitt.
He married Shirley J. Ates Oct. 20, 1954 at Flint, Mich. She died Jan. 12, 1995.
He was a retired farmer and a U.S. Army veteran.
Schlitt was a member of the Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, Knights of Columbus Council 4311 in Oran and VFW Post 5368 in Morley.
He is survived by a son, Mark Schlitt of Chaffee; a daughter, Cheri Olson of Sumter, S.C.; two brothers, Harold A. Schlitt of Oran and Robert J. Schlitt of Poplar Bluff; four sisters, Mildred Burnett of Sikeston, Alma Jene Gouge of Wentzville, Mary Catherine Stoverink of O'Fallon and Georgia Neal of St. Louis; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and brother.
Visitation will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran, with parish prayers at 7 and Knights of Columbus prayers at 7:30.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, with the Rev. Frederick Lutz officiating. The Morley VFW will perform full military rites.
Burial will be Monday at Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery.
