BRIGHTON, Ill. -- Carl Edward Roe, 74, passed away at 7:42 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at his residence with his family by his side.

He was born in Hahn, Missouri, on April 22, 1941, to Truman and Ruby (Long) Roe.

Carl married Margaret Ross on June 1, 1963, in Meadowbrook, Illinois. She survives.

Carl served his country in the U.S. Army. He was employed at LaClede Steel Co. in Alton, Illinois, retiring as a supervisor.

He was a past Worshipful Master of the Bethalto (Illinois) AF & AM Masonic Lodge 406 and an Ainad Shriner.

He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of Brighton; a son, Dion Roe of Brighton; a brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Judy Roe of Meadowbrook; and two grandchildren, Darian Roe of Brighton and Ian (Karlie) Roe of Panama City, Florida.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Truman and Ruby Roe; his two brothers, Donny and Bill Roe; and three sisters, Dorothy Estes, Jean Helden and Jane Silas.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, with a Masonic rite service at 7 p.m. by the Bethalto Masonic Lodge 406.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Chaplain Randy Butler officiating.

Burial will be at Roselawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, with military burial rites provided by Alton VFW Post 1308.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
