DEXTER -- Carl Jean Ringer, 77, of Dexter died Monday, Oct. 20, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 14, 1920, at Dexter, son of William Nelson and Nora Frances Hill Ringer. He and Wilma C. Long were married Sept. 11, 1943, in Garden City, Kan.
Ringer owned and operated Ringer Hardware and Lumber Co. many years with his brothers. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Missouri Air Guard, and Dexter Masonic Lodge 532.
He was a former member of Dexter School Board, former Ward 3 alderman on Dexter City Council, and former member of Rotary Club. He was a retired lieutenant colonel with Tennessee Air Guard. He was a pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dr. Carl Ringer of Cape Girardeau, William Ringer of Kansas City; a daughter, Carole Ringer of Alton, Ill.; a brother, John Ringer of Dexter; and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a brother, and two sisters.
Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today. Masonic service will be at 7:30.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Wayne Dismuke officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery.
