MORLEY -- Funeral service for Carl H. Phillips Jr. of Morley will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Oran. The Rev. Bennie Wilsey will officiate, with burial in New Morley Cemetery.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran after 4 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7.
Phillips, 73, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 1997, at his home.
He was born Feb. 14, 1924, in Kansas City, son of Carl Henry and Lillian Martin Phillips Sr. He and Betty Jo Manley were married July 22, 1959. She died March 4, 1985.
Phillips served 23 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a chief petty officer. He was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, Morley Masonic Lodge 184, and Morley VFW Post 5368.
Survivors include a son, John Phillips of San Francisco, Calif.; two daughters, Sherran Burnett of St. Petersburg, Fla., Ellen Grissom of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Jack Phillips of Kansas City; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.
