CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Carl Vernon Parker, 65, of West Memphis, Ark., died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis, Tenn.
He was born Feb. 24, 1935, at Wolf Island in Mississippi County, son of James Floyce and Daisy Margaret Johnson Parker. He and Anita Lynch were married Jan. 6, 1957.
Parker was a beginning partner in McTigue-Parker Construction Co. in East Prairie, Mo. In 1966 he moved to West Memphis where he was employed with Bunge Corp. as quality control manager. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Carl Parker of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Mark Parker of West Memphis, Stan Parker of Smyrna, Tenn., John Parker of Cordova, Tenn.; a brother, Jackie Parker of Charleston; two sisters, Dorothy Miller of Diehlstadt, Mo., Lynda Davis of Sikeston, Mo.; a half sister, Patricia Parker-Watson of Anaheim, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Friends may call at Roller-Citizen Funeral Home in West Memphis from 6-9 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church. Graveside rites will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
