ADVANCE -- Funeral for Carl Edward McKinley of Winston was held Monday at Bram Funeral Home in Maysville. Burial was in Alta Vista Cemetery near Winston.

McKinley, 79, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at his home.
He was born Aug. 2, 1920, near Advance, son of Harry and Ada Dixon McKinley. He and Mildred I. Carson were married Aug. 22, 1942, at Pineville.
McKinley was editor of rocket maintenance manuals 16 years at Loria and Vought Rocket Systems in Mt. Clemens, Mich. He lived near Winston the past 20 years.
He was a member of Alta Vista Baptist Church, and Western Star Lodge 15 AF&AM. He served in the U.S. Army from 1940-62.
Survivors include his wife; a brother, John McKinley of Dexter; four sisters, Mildred Willis of Advance, Faye Looney of Yellville, Ark., Bess McFerron of Park Hills, Jessie Cato of Zalma; and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by a son and three brothers.
