MOREHOUSE -- Funeral service for Carl L. Launius of Morehouse will be held at 2 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Revs. W.H. Worth, Randy Thomas and Henry Jordan will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
Launius, 70, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1993, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born June 12, 1923, at Bloomfield, son of Clyde R. and Jottie Williams Launius. He and Maxine Hunt were married Oct. 25, 1941.
Launius had worked at Himmelberger-Harrison, Christian Singer Food Brokers, and Kimberly Clark. He was a member of Morehouse First General Baptist Church, where he had been a deacon, choir director, Sunday School teacher and superintendent. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member and past president of Morehouse Kiwanis Club, member of Morehouse Housing Authority board, and charter member of Morehouse VFW Post.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, John Launius of Morehouse, Ronnie Launius of Mehlville; a daughter, Sheila Klutts of Sikeston; a brother, Clyde Launius of Sikeston; a sister, Ruth Graham of Sikeston; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and eight stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
