ANNA, Ill. -- Carl Gene King, 81, of Anna died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at Union County Hospital.
He was born Dec. 20, 1926, in Balcom, Ill., son of Homer and Pearl Boyd King. He and Donna Mull were married July 22, 1946, in Vienna, Ill. She died Dec. 11, 2001.
King worked 46 years at Anna Ready Mix and Illini Ready Mix. He was a member of Anna Heights Baptist Church, Anna Moose Lodge 1346 and life member of Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455.
He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Dunn of Dongola, Ill.; a brother, Merrill King of Melbourne, Fla.; two sisters, Elva Egdorf of Mazon, Ill, Ruth Thomas of Rankin, Ill.; a companion, Martha Rhodes of Anna; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, a son, a sister and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Sadler officiating. Burial will be in Anna City Cemetery, with full military honors conducted by VFW Post 3455.
