Carl R. "Lindy" Jank, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 22, 1927, in Effingham, Ill., son of Robert M. and Cora Bombal Jank. He and Norma Jean Hahs were married Nov. 28, 1948.
Lindy was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He then worked many years as a claims adjuster for various insurance companies including State Farm, Home Insurance and American National.
He was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
Loving survivors include his wife of nearly 60 years, Norma Jank of Cape Girardeau; a son, Robert (Deborah) Jank of Herrin, Ill.; a daughter, Marlys (Mike) Berry of Jackson; a brother, Erich Jank of Bourbon, Mo.; a sister, Cordula Lange of Sullivan, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two nephews; and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a nephew.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Azinger officiating.
Interment will follow in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery with graveside military honors.
Memorials are suggested to Saxony Lutheran High School or the American Cancer Society.
