SIKESTON, Mo. -- A memorial service for Carl Edward Gossett of Sikeston will be at 6 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home. The Revs. Maxey Schriver and Jason Schriver will officiate. Burial will be in New Morley Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until service time.

Gossett, 68, died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 8, 1933, in Clarksville, Ark., son of Wilbert A. and Gladys R. Bell Gossett.

Gossett had worked for North American Van Lines and had been a member of Eagles, American Legion and Teamsters Union.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

Survivors include three brothers, Harold Gossett of Dodge City, Kan., Dale and Bill Gossett of Sikeston; six sisters, Shirley Hodgson of Lawrence, Kan., Donna Gilliland and Carol Payne of Sikeston, Jane Osborne of Manhattan, Kan., Glendella May of Scott City, Mo., and Kay Hubbard of Bell City, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
