ANNA, Ill. -- Carl L. Garner, 78, of Anna died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at Union County Hospital.
He was born Dec. 11, 1923, at Piggott, Ark., son of William and Lona Nicholson Garner. He and Helen Caraker were married Aug. 24, 1946, at Piggott.
Garner was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Garner worked over 40 years as a truck driver for the former International Shoe and Florsheim companies. He was a member of the Anna VFW 3455 and the Anna American Legion. He was member of First Baptist Church in Anna.
Survivors include his wife and a sister, Ruby Yates of Cobden, Ill.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from Tuesday until service time.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lutz and Rendleman, with the Revs. Tim Sadler and Paul Sadler officiating. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery, with full military honors by Anna VFW Post 3455.
