SIKESTON -- Carl Frederick Burgess, 65, of Poplar Bluff, formerly of Sikeston, died Thursday, March 19, 1992, at the John J. Pershing Veterans Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

He was born Feb. 7, 1927 at New Port, Ark., son of Abraham and Harriet Emmer Burgess.

He married Mary Lee McCormick on April 28, 1947 at Sikeston.

He was a retired truck driver for Bess Distributing Company, and an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are seven sons, Carl R. Burgess of Minneapolis, Minn.; Howard Burgess of Augusta, Ga., Kennie B. Burgess of Jacksonville, Fla., and Julius Burgess, Doyle Burgess, Charles Burgess and John C. Burgess all of Sikeston; three daughters, Bernice Freeland of East Prairie, Pamela Sue Fautch of Minneapolis, and Melissa Westmorland of Sikeston; two brothers, Daris D. Burgess of Sikeston and Lonnie Burgess of Crystal Lake, Fla.; one sister, Almeda Foster of Minneapolis; and 27 grandchildren.

Friends may call today from 6-8 p.m. at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Graveside service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
