PULASKI, Ill. - Carl Edward Stringer of Pulaski, Ill. died Friday, April 24, 1992 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was 75.

Stringer was born March 7, 1917 at Lakeland, Fla., son of the late Willie Webster and Nettie Kaupher Stringer.

He was a member of the Pulaski Christian Church and served as a trustee for the village of Pulaski. An Army veteran in World War II, Stringer was a past commander and lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post at Mounds.

He was also a member of the Pulaski Volunteer Fire Department.

He and his wife owned and operated the Dixie Drive-In Restaurant in Pulaski for 15 years. In addition, Stringer was a local bottled gas distributor.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Sowers Stringer, and a son, Mike Stringer, both of Pulaski; a daughter, Nancy Lance of Olmsted; brothers Harold Stringer of Pulaski and Billy Stringer of Chewelah, Wash.; a sister, Helen Dillman of Congerville; and two grandchildren.

A granddaughter, two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge. The Rev. William Winters will officiate.

Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Pulaski.

Full military honors will be provided by the VFW post in Mounds. Visitation will be held Sunday after 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
