CAIRO, Ill. -- Carl E. Worthington, 77, Cairo Route 1, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1993, at Daystar Care Center.
He was born May 14, 1916, in Alexander County, son of Henry and Caroline Schlamer Worthington.
Worthington was owner of Worthington's Service Station 32 years, and after retiring was a rural mail carrier at Olmsted.
He was a member and deacon at First Southern Baptist Church, member of Cairo Chamber of Commerce, and past president of Cairo Rotary Club.
Survivors include his wife, Norma; two sons, Craig and Rodney Worthington of Cairo; a sister, Carrie Brooks of Wickliffe, Ky., and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Southern Baptist Church. The Rev. Verlee Eaker will officiate, with burial in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.
Friends may call at the church after 5 p.m. today.
