ORAN -- Carl Elmo Shy, 79, Oran Route 2, died Thursday, May 27, 1993, at Chaffee Nursing Center.
He was born July 20, 1913, at New Madrid, son of Louie Carl and Hazel Chapel Shy.
Shy was a retired farmer and truck driver. He was a member of Morley VFW Post 5368. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include three sons, Sammy Shy of Oran, Larry Shy of Dexter, Danny Shy of Vallejo, Calif.; a daughter, Sue Pearson of Twin Peaks, Calif.; a brother, Jerry Shy of Sikeston; three sisters, Patsy Graviett of Morley, Louise Barnett of Waynesboro, Tenn., Virginia McGahey of Sikeston; 17 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. The Rev. Mark McDaniel will officiate, with burial in New Morley Cemetery at Morley.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
