Carl Edward Davie, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 18, 1920, at Gordonville, son of Charley and Elizabeth Schuette Davie. He and Lillie E. Proffer were married June 17, 1944, in Jackson.
Davie worked at Voges Sunoco 27 years, retiring as assistant manager. He was a member of First General Baptist Church, an assistant Sunday School secretary and past board president. He served many years on the Marquette School Board. He was a member VFW Post 3838.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with Gen. George Patton. He received four Bronze Stars.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Randy Davie of Gordonville, Edward Davie of West Frankfort, Ill.; three daughters, Lana Cook and Darla Parkhill of Cape Girardeau, Vella Michaelia of Barnhart; two brothers, Alvin Davie of Jackson, James Davie of Royal Palm Beach, Fla.; four sisters, Geneva Wilkinson and Loretta Musgraves of Cape Girardeau, June Hunt of Scott City, Betty Dellinger of Oak Ridge; and 10 grandchildren.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-7 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Sam Ramdial officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 3838.
