ANNA, Ill. -- Carl E. Dallas, 82, of Anna died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, at his home.
He was born May 4, 1924, in Carterville, Ill., son of Elbert and Hazel Carter Dallas. He and Lucille Cox were married Nov. 20, 1943.
Dallas graduated from Anna-Jonesboro High School in 1942. He served 26 years with the U.S. Air Force, retiring as chief master sergeant. He was a veteran of World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War.
He was assistant superintendent of assessments in Jonesboro, and superintendent of assessments in Randolph County many years. He taught real estate and real estate appraisal at Shawnee Community College. He also owned and operated Certified Real Estate Appraisal in Jonesboro.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jonesboro, and lifetime member of the VFW in Anna.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard Dallas of Watkinsville, Ga.; a brother, Floyd Dallas of Anna; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a granddaughter, a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Joe Aldridge and Mark Kirk officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery with military honors conducted by Scott Air Force Base Honor Guard.
