Georgia Captolia Prince Huffines was born Nov. 18, 1920, in Hardin County, Tenn. She was the first of four children of John Stanley and Edna Blount Prince.
She graduated from Hardin County Central High School in Savannah, Tenn. During World War II she served as a clerk with the FBI in Washington, D.C.
In December 1945 she and Hilmon Howard Huffines were married at East End Methodist Church in Savannah.
In 1957 she returned to college, receiving her B.S. in education from Bethel College in McKenzie, Tenn., in 1961. She taught five years in Bell City and 19 years at North Elementary in Savannah.
She was a member and served as president of the Savannah Business and Professional Women's Club and Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Women. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Teachers Society, Hardin County Retired Teachers, Neill Cemetery Association, FCE Club, and Dorcus Quilters.
Her home was in the Olivet community in Hardin County, where she was a member of Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church and served as Sunday School teacher for several years.
In 1995, due to failing health, she moved to Oran to be near her daughter. There she was a member of Bell City United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, and Painton FCE Club.
In March 1999, following an illness, she became a resident of the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, where she died April 6, 2000, at the age of 79.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gwenell and Delane Streeter of Oran, Beryl and Richard Grandon of Bartlett, Tenn.; a son and daughter-in-law, Dwain and Corinne Huffines of Seymour, Tenn.; a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Bob Roberts of Jackson, Tenn.; a brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Reva Prince of Munford, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Madrigail Reed, Marcus Streeter, Jalan Cecil, Erik Grandon, Heather Huffines, Jesse Huffines and Justin Huffines; a great-grandchild, Colt Cecil; and many other family, friends and former students.
She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, H.H. Huffines; and a sister, Evelyn Theis.
Visitation in Missouri will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2000, at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance. Visitation in Tennessee will be at noon, followed by the funeral at 1 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2000, at Oliver Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Savannah. The Rev. Jack Barker will officiate. Burial will be in Neill Cemetery in Savannah.
