JONESBORO, Ill. -- Candy Lee Hampton-Hurt, 64, of Jonesboro died Monday, July 22, 2013, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 2, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, to Bruce Michael and Thelma Lee McFerron Hampton.
Candy attended St. Mary's Church in Anna, Ill., and St. Mary Cathedral in Cape Girardeau. She graduated from Sikeston High School and attended nursing school in Sikeston, Mo. She had worked in the nursing profession more than 30 years. She was a member of the Moose Lodge in Anna.
Survivors include a daughter, Denise (Ray) Crane of Jonesboro; two sons, Mark (Andrea) Moore of Jackson and Derek (Keri) Hurt of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, George (Debbie) Hampton of Gatewood, Mo., and Steve (Wissie) Hampton of Sikeston; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
