Calvin Britt

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Calvin Berl Britt, 78, of East Prairie died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.

He was born Aug. 19, 1925, near East Prairie, son of Calvin B. and May Moore Britt. He and Juanita Faye Ivie were married Dec. 20, 1947. She died Nov. 1, 2003.

Britt lived in St. Louis 30 years, and retired from the body repair division of Ford Motor Co. He had been a minister since 1986, and with Full Gospel Church since 1991.

He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include four sons, Calvin Britt of Eureka, Mo., Ronnie Britt of St. Louis, Tom and Lynn Britt of East Prairie; five brothers, Jack and Pete Britt of Sikeston, Jerry and Larry Britt of East Prairie, Corky Britt of Stockton, Calif.; two sisters, Edith Denton of Ontario, Calif., Earline Bell of East Prairie; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Mike Johnson officiating. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors by Brown-Twitty American Legion Post 595 of New Madrid, Mo.
