Calvin Walter Break Sr., 89, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at Southeast Hospital.

He was born Dec. 4, 1925, in Cape Girardeau to Haisten and Janie E. Wolters Break.

He and Virginia M. Borchelt were married Sept. 7, 1947, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Egypt Mills.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in World War II and the Korean War.

Calvin was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Cape Girardeau as a letter carrier from 1956 until his retirement in 1989.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, VFW Post 3838 and the National Association of Letter Carriers.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia M. Break of Cape Girardeau; sons, Calvin W. Break, Jr. of St. Louis and Dennis R. (Mary Beth) Break of Marshfield, Missouri; two grandchildren, Erica Smith of Cape Girardeau and Kayla (Kenny) McWay of St. Louis; two great-grandchildren, Zach Smith and Tallon Smith, three stepgrandchildren, Erica R. (Chris) Plorin of Lindale, Texas, Allison B. Martin of Marshfield and Krista K. (Kirk) Butler of Seattle; and one step great-grandchild, Samuel G. Plorin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum with full military honors by the Missouri Honor Team.

Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church 100 N. Frederick St., Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
