CANALOU -- Cletus John Southard, 77, of Canalou, died Sunday, March 12, 1995, from injuries received in an automobile accident in New Madrid County.
He was born June 10, 1917, in Blytheville, Ark., son of Mr. and Mrs. William Southard. He and Ollie Faye Martin were married Jan. 19, 1934. She died April 2, 1994.
Southard was a retired farmer and carpenter. He attended First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Southard Sr. of Malden, Glen Southard of Canalou; five daughters, Hetty Harper of Ashkum, Ill., Hazel Cantrell of Malden, Linda Robinson and Vickie Brant of Canalou, Carolyn Hughes of Loudon, Tenn.; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by three sons, a daughter, two brothers, four sisters, two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Revs. Dewayne Coleman and Fred Ritter officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
