Marvin P. "Burr" Robert, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 2, 1926, at Chaffee, son of Alphonse and Clara Schlitt Robert. He and Rosemary Schaefer were married June 1, 1957, in Cape Girardeau.

Robert was an engineer with Dravo Barge Lines 38 years. He was a member of Old St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3838, Elks Lodge 639, Knights of Columbus Council 1111, and American Legion Post 63.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mary Claire Archer of Chicago; and a brother, Norman Robert Sr. of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7:30, and Knights of Columbus rosary at 8.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Old St. Vincent's Church. The Rev. Randy Tochtrop will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
