ESSEX -- Buddy Welch, 85, of Essex died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Aug. 14, 1914, at Blodgett, son of Jack and Elizabeth Harris Welch. He and Daisy Campbell were married April 9, 1938, at Bloomfield.
Welch lived in Essex most of his life. He was employed with Missouri Department of Transportation 21 years, retiring as a crew leader. He served 15 years on Essex City Council and 14 years with Essex Special Road District.
He was a member of Olive Branch General Baptist Church. Welch served as a deacon 20 years in the New Liberty General Baptist Association.
Survivors include his wife; and a sister, Pearl Latham of Sikeston.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Revs. Doyle Corlew and Dale McFarland will officiate. Burial will be in Essex Cemetery.
