BERNIE -- Funeral for Marvin C. "Buddy" Gilmore will be held at 1 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter. The Rev. Garry Zook will officiate. Burial will be in Bernie Cemetery.
Gilmore, 76, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff.
He was born Oct. 6, 1923, at Oran, son of John W. and Maudie May Morrison. He and Opal Lucille Bertholomey were married Dec. 15, 1945. She died Nov. 27, 1988. He and Audrey Wooley Nordin were married April 4, 1998.
Gilmore lived in Parma and Bernie all his life. He was retired from the MFA Elevator at Bernie. He attended Vinson General Baptist Church near Essex and Freewill Baptist Church at Malden.
Survivors include his wife; six sons, Roger Phillips of Millington, Tenn., Wayne Gilmore of Broseley, Billy Gilmore of Wardell, Bobby Gilmore of Canalou, Sam Gilmore of Dexter, Rick Gilmore of Bernie; two daughters, Sue King of Sikeston, Peggy Bess of Elkhart, Ind.; a sister, Vie Graham of Matthews; 26 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
