Buddy E. Allen, 70, of Jackson, formerly of Perryville, Mo., passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 2, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, to Hubert and Emra Snider Allen. He and Kathryn Partington Schumacker were married April 1, 2004, in Chester, lll. 

Buddy was a graduate of Central High School in Cape Girardeau. He worked 25 years as a heavy-equipment operator for Peabody Coal Co. in Sparta, Ill., retiring in 1998. He and Kathy moved from Perryville to Jackson in 2012.

Buddy enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was a member of Perryville AMVETS and the Perryville Country Club. 

Loving survivors include his wife, Kathy Allen of Jackson; two children, Buddy (Julie) Allen II of Pevely, Mo., and Penny Allen of Perryville; three stepchildren, Tom (Torrie) Schumacker of Jackson, Jeff Schumacker of St. Louis and Jaclyn Schumacker and fiance Jason Hawk of Chester; a granddaughter, Jordan Allen; two step-grandchildren, Tyler and Trenton Schumaker; and a sister, Linda (Tom) Livesay of Ballwin, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

A family friend, Ruben Owen, will officiate a memorial service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Immediately following, Team Delta will provide full military honors. Inurnment will be private at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Missouri Veterans Home Foundation (Cape Girardeau).
