DEXTER, Mo. -- Funeral for Varble V. "Bud" Sielert of Fairfax Station, Va., will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Fred Leist will officiate. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery.

Sielert, 80, died Friday, July 21, 2000, at Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Va.

He was born June 17,1920, in Leora, Mo., son of Louie Elmo and Novella Varble Sielert. He and Antoinette Ann Ferraro were married Aug. 2, 1946, in Orange, Texas.

Sielert was a graduate of Dexter High School. Serving in the U.S. Navy from 1940-60, he was in the Pacific during World War II, was in the Panama Canal Zone and the Korean War. He received the Philippine Liberation Medal.

He worked in civil service in Norfolk, Va., until 1966, moved to Albany, Ga., and then to Kansas City, Mo., in 1978. He moved to Fairfax Station in January 2000, where he attended Burke Methodist Church.

Sielert was a member of Sun Chasers and Dam Busters Flying Club of Smithville, Mo.

Survivors include his wife; a son, John Sielert of Fairfax Station; a sister, Willena Daniel of Dexter; and a granddaughter.
