PARMA -- Funeral for William "Buck" Bonds of Parma will be held at 2 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Parma. The Rev. Jody Duncan will officiate, with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele.
Bonds, 68, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 19, 1930, in Clinton, Ark., son of J.O. and Lee Bowling Bonds. He and Barbara Williams were married April 16, 1991, at Gideon.
Bonds had lived in Kennett and West Memphis, Ark., before moving to Parma 50 years ago. He retired as cotton compress manager at Gideon Compress Warehouse. He was a business owner in Parma and Risco, sponsor of Parma 4-H Club, and president of Vikings Post 57 in Risco.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, James Bonds of Houston, Texas, Greg Knight of Poplar Bluff; three daughters, Pamela Best of Marion, Ark., Kim Slagle of Gideon, Sonja Knight of Parma; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
