Bruce Wayne Proffer, 64, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at his home. He was born Sept. 3, 1949, in Cape Girardeau, son of J.W. and Mary Lena Taylor Proffer. Bruce Wayne Proffer, 64, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at his home.

He was born Sept. 3, 1949, in Cape Girardeau, son of J.W. and Mary Lena Taylor Proffer. He married Patricia Ann Reynolds Feb. 24, 1967.

Bruce attended Delta School. He was a welder at Custom Cut Fabrication in Jackson before retiring.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia of Cape Girardeau; his mother, Mary of Jackson; four sons, Joseph (Laura) Proffer, James and Garry Proffer of Cape Girardeau, and Thomas (Lorie) Proffer of Frohna, Missouri; a daughter, Sheila Proffer of Perkins, Missouri; a brother, W.J. Proffer of Millersville; four sisters, Ella Jean (John) Moore and Dorothy (Kenny) Sides of Oak Ridge, Doris (David) Jones and Jackie (Tyson) Norman of Millersville; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson was in charge of arrangements.
