Bruce L. Colyott, 73, of Jackson passed away Friday, June 28, 2024, at his home.
He was born Nov. 1, 1950, in Hunter to Norman and Violet “Vi” Lawrence Colyott.
Bruce was a 1969 graduate of Kennett High School. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1970 to 1972, during the Vietnam War.
For many years, Bruce owned and operated LACO Insulation in Cape Girardeau. His interests included woodworking, fishing and reading, and he was an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
To cherish his memory, he leaves five children, Brandon Colyott of Las Vegas, Breanna (Tyler) Nelson of Rose Hill, Kansas, Leah Colyott of Atlanta, Jesse (Amanda) Casey of Ogden, Utah, and Robert (Rhonda) Duty of Dongola, Illinois; grandchildren, Zane and Scarlett Nelson, Nicholas Colyott and Charlie Duty; two brothers, Michael (Debbie) Colyott of Fayetteville, Georgia, and Kevin (Debbie) Colyott of Scott City; nieces and nephews, Erin Daughhette, Jake, Kyle, Michael, Kristen and Kelley Colyott and Courteney King; former wife and companion, Tina Colyott of Dongola; and several cousins.
Bruce was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Colyott; a brother, Steven Colyott; and his parents, Norman and Vi Colyott.
Bruce was honored with private military rites at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
If considering a memorial contribution, the family suggests Missouri Veterans Home Foundation in Cape Girardeau.
McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson was in charge of arrangements.
