CAIRO, Ill. -- Brooks Russell Long, 79 years old, of Cairo, died Friday, Dec. 28, 1990, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
He was the owner of the former Fahrs Printing and Office Supply in Cairo before his retirement.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army at Luzon, where he received three Bronze stars.
He was a member of Cairo Elks Lodge No. 651 and the Egyptian Country Club.
He was born March 15, 1911 in Cairo, son of Robert E. and Sophia Long.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby Long, of Cairo; a daughter, Linda Long Goode, of Chesterfield; a son, Brooks Russell Long Jr., Germantown, Ill.; one sister, Ann Rataj, of Wesleyville, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo from 10:30 a.m. today until time of service.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at the funeral home with the Rev. Larry L. Potts officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Villa Ridge, Ill.
