Brenda P. Wachter, 63, formerly of Jackson, passed away Monday, June 8, 2020, at her home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Oct. 23, 1956, in Cape Girardeau to Martin and Virginia Meyer Dubs. She and Gerald L. Wachter were married March 12, 1984. The had been married 32 years, when Gerald passed away Oct. 30, 2016.
Brenda was a 1975 graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School. She worked at the former Broadway Theater in Cape Girardeau. After receiving her nursing degree from Southeast Missouri State University, she worked many years at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Brenda enjoyed boating and water-skiing on Kentucky Lake, going to the casino and spending time with her grandchildren. Even though she was afflicted by multiple sclerosis, she continued to go and do everything she possibly could.
Loving survivors include daughters, Ashley (Justin) Murphy of Cape Girardeau and Lindsey Wachter of California; grandchildren, Caedan, Logan and Tyson; siblings, Marty (Bonnie) Dubs of Virginia, David Dubs of Kelso, Missouri, and Martha Barnhart and Kathy (David) Morris, both of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and an infant brother.
A memorial visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
A celebration service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
